Much better equipment than the TRS-80 CoCo 2 I used to have. With a tape drive, even. Luxury!

we were an Atari household. Nothing like listening to 5-10 minutes of this:
only to have something screw up at the end and have to do it over again.
though it was neat that the Atari 800 could self-bootstrap from cassette instead of having to start from BASIC.

my fam was poor and could not afford the C64. Instead we got the vic 20!

Our family never had one in that era. My parents were decidedly non-tech. I used a friend’s Atari ( or something) to do some Basic programming for a college elective in 1986, but didn’t really use a computer in earnest until grad school in 1989.

16MB of RAM. The first computer I ever owned was Mac G4. I thought I was sitting fat with a 10GB HD.

We had an IBM clone (remember that term) 286, with the yellow only monitor, and the continuous feed printer. We had that until long past its prime, then one day mom fired it up to do the company books, and it started smoking.

Just replace the smoke once it leaks out.

That commercial makes me realize how old Futureshop was, and how much I miss Futureshop, and how much I hate Bestbuy.
